Lights Around Town

I love lights and I love the 'sound' or maybe the lack of sound that comes with the first deep snow fall. There is little ice, the crunch is so crisp and the smell is amazing! Look out for more snow pictures over the next few months.

Life Gone

I took a drive on Sunday afternoon to find the abandoned town of Gebo, Wyoming. What I didn't expect to find was a complete landscape devoid of any reminders that a thriving coal mining town once inhabited the area- there was nothing. It was a big humbling and eerie to think that 30 years ago, a few stragglers still lived in the area- now any trace of their existence is gone. I had taken photos on Saturday, while rock hunting with family, that focused on the echos of life- how interesting that I found the lack of echos the next day.

Heart of a Pumpkin

As I was purusing through the pumpkin patch this year I came across this awesome cluster of seeds within a smashed pumpkin. I just had to capture the true "heart of a pumpkin"

Thermo Springs

One thing I love about living in Thermopolis, WY is the Hot Springs. The water can be so colorful, blooming with different algae based on the temperature and then it leaves behind so much plain white sulfur. The contrast can be so stark and vivid. Sadly, over the few years since I have been here, the water has slowly decreased and with it the beautiful color.

New beginnings

As summer closes I am again reminded how fast the seasons go by. Not just the weather but the seasons of life. The adage is true "The days are long but the years are short".  I sent three of my four boys off to their new school year, ready for new adventures, classrooms, teachers and friends complete with new backpacks, shoes and clothes. Somehow, watching them succeed brings so much joy along with the pang of sadness that I am one step closer to having them leave home for new adventures without me. Good luck Nathan, Ammon and Luke- I LOVE YOU!

Southern Utah Trip

We took a long overdue family trip down to Southern Utah! We stayed in the picturesque Pine Valley, climbed up so Red Cliffs and saw the spring runoff at Gunlock- such a stark contrast between the red rock cliffs and the bright blue water. It was a wonderful sight to see!

Historic Pine Valley Chapel- one of my FAVORITE places to see!

Spaghetti Dinner

Spaghetti dinners are so much fun with one year olds! Simeon had his first bowl of spaghetti and judging by the pictures I think he like it- what do you think?

Patriotic Bridge

Thermopolis, Wyoming has it's fair share of gorgeous sites! I took pics of this bridge a few years ago and this year they changed the colors for the summer. Beautiful Red, White and Blue!

The reflection on the water makes a flag and it couldn't be prettier. I also learned a lesson, I need to wear tennis shoes when I go on these nightly excursions- I ran across a four foot bull snake! Now I added the extremely blurry photo at the bottom (my camera battery was dying and wouldn't focus). He sure gave me a start!
